Veep receives report on fire outbreak at Foreign Ministry

Accra, Dec. 14, GNA &#8211; Vice President John Mahama on behalf of government received the report of the Committee of Enquiry into the fire outbreak at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration on October 21.

Mr. Kweku Twum Boafo of Twum Boafo and Associates led the seven-member committee to enquire into the cause of the fire outbreak, and assess the responsiveness of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to the disaster.

Accra, Sept. 4, GNA &#8211; Dr Joe Abbey, Executive Director, Centre for Policy Analysis (CEPA), has said the World Bank could not absolve itself from blame with regard to the country&#8217;s deterioration of fiscal discipline from 2006 to 2008.
&#160;
He said the excuse that lack of transparency and accountability by the immediate past administration had provided an enabling environment for the deterioration of fiscal management and increase in the budget deficit was not noticed until late 2008 could not be accepted because the persistent deterioration of Ghana&#8217;s fiscal discipline was noticed in 2006.

		<description><![CDATA[New Tafo (E/R), Aug. 23, GNA &#8211; The Adonten Community Bank made a net profit of GH&#162;75,943 last year, the highest profit made so far by the bank.

This was announced by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr Emmanuel Appiah Korang, at the 11th Annual General Meeting of the Bank at New Tafo, at the weekend.

		<description><![CDATA[Tamale, Aug 20, GNA &#8211; The Alliance for Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) is providing a grant of 13 million dollars to the agricultural sector of&#160;Ghana.&#160;
The amount is out of 400 million dollars set aside to improve agriculture in 13 African countries to make them self sufficient in food production.
&#160;
Part of the grant is to help train more agricultural officers, improve seedlings, develop new varieties of crops and make them available to farmers and also sponsor agro chemicals shops to deliver chemicals at the door steps of farmers.

This is because the current second-year students who started the four-year senior high school programme will next year be in their third-year and, therefore, cannot be eligible to participate in the examination.
